I hate my Ritualist, she's so ugly!! I picked the worst hair for her. I have to keep that ugly face wrap on her so I don't have to look at her.
I love that someone called it the Bling Trader.

Oh, I came up with an idea everyone
Some bosses should carry say like... "Uthgardina Ring" or something, Uthgardina being like the boss name, area of location, etc.ec. Naturally, it'd have to be a green type item.
Again tho, NO STATS ON JEWLERY! As much as I want my necklaces to give me a +5 intelligence level, it just doesnt happen, and shouldn't in GW! :P
But, I really would like to see bosses that drop jewlery, 15k crafters that craft jewlery, collectors and so forth

lovely idea. perhaps some of this stuff could be decals on characters so that it doesnt add polygons =]
also, i think that it should add stats....BLING stats.
it would just be a for fun stat with no effect on the game play. different items bring different amount of bling. bling could decay with out weekly "cleaning" of the bling!!! you could put a ring on every finger and pimp out your body with tatoos and crap in your hair for maximum bling! hahaha. ok, i took it overboard...but it would be really funny to see.

Geez.. stylist?.. go buy The Sims 2 instead.
Gaile Gray said no to changing the character emotes for Paragon, Dervish, Assassin and Ritualist (since they all have elementalist emotes) why would they spend months on implementing a stylist so that people can look like sims 2 characters?...
Come on guys, you can redo a character, or make it right from the start!
I have deleted alot of alot of alot of chars and remade them, but never thought "Yeii, since I dont have the sims 2, I want a stylist in a UNIQUE game like Guild Wars to style my character with diamond ear rings and lipstick"...
/NOT SIGNED, reasons stated above, we are still talking about Guild Wars, not The sims..
And by the way, why would Anet even bother to ADD new faces when they release a new expansion, why would they bother to have all those hair styles? All dyes? Dont you guys even think about what they would have to go thru? They spend months and months making new faces and new skins for the characters, dont you think they would feel "What a waste of time, making new skins for characters and now they got a stylist" NOBODY will even bother to chose a face or skin for their char since they can change it anyway at this stylist. If I was in any way involved with ANET I would say no to the idea. Think about what ANET already does for their players. Sometimes people are asking to much. Just think about the above. Would you like ANET to waste their time making new skins so that you then can blow them off by getting what you want, what I call The Sims 2 wannabe. A stylist that would make people click their way past to where you can put your name and enter, off to storage, get some gold and make the character ingame?...
Just try to think about all the work they will lose, and all they will have to do JUST to make their players feel they are the inventors of the game.
Ideas like these make me.. well sick to be honest. Its silly, specially for the older players (age above 25) yes we DO play this game. I would hand over the game to my kiddo if I had one, becouse these types of things dont go well.
EDIT: Some people mature more than others. Some people like to keep the game clean, some people love the game as it is, some people dont like the idea. Im one of them.
Sure they can implement it, I love this game, but I would stop playing, Im just one I know, there are plenty more than me who play. Just that I dislike the bling bling, jewelry, lipstick and makeup idea. Implement it but keep it clean, haircuts and small small small small small small small small small small small (x2000) accsesories. That you cant even notice, dont bring it to the mountains with a huge diamond ring on your elementalist finger, a haircut thats longer than your character in lenght.. you know what I mean, keep it clean.

Rant eh?
I'm above 25 as well and I don't see how it affects me wanting to give my ranger a long-needed virtual haircut. Gaile has commented many times that she and A-Net acknowledges this is a feature MANY people want and I think in the (distant) future we'll see it happen.
Until then, we can only keep pressuring ANet saying that we want it!

Seeing that when anyone goes to a different country or land with different customs (for whatever reason), that person may like the lands' styles and customs and would like to adopt them while they are there; or make it a permanent change.
Perhaps a new look is needed to maintain interest in the character as well.
With yet another Chapter on the way, and still no way to adopt new looks to "fit" in to the local customs, we are once again forced to sit and wonder, when and why this isn't in place.
Opponants to this feature are kinda silly and actually rather selfish. Since this takes nothing away from the game, it only adds, there is no reason other than selfishness that this is not in place... that or Anet greed and a possible desire to Maple Story us by renaming this feature as an "Optional Content Enhancement" and charge us $10 (ala Maple Story). This would be bad and would literrally be stealing money or asking for a hand out. We've seen hair styles change through bugs and an "oops", we've seen Anet change the hair back. We have the content (hair) already paid for through the purchase of the games, what we lack is the "global feature" to change it ourselves. "Global Features" are supposed to be free to all players.
If we own all three chapters, we should be able to travel to X land and select a new look at no additional real money charge.

I think this is a great idea!
If not a stylist, I'd say please at least an hairdresser!
ANet don't have to spend months on it. The code to modify hair skins already exist. It's called reuse code.

Frankly, I would think the people who make new hairstyles and faces would WANT a stylist capable of changing the hairstyles and faces of existing characters. It would mean their work would get used MORE.
As far as the other stuff, extra tattoos and jewelry and whatever, I agree with you that that stuff has no place in Guild Wars. You want that much control over your character go play City of Heroes or Freedom Force or something.
But faces and hairstyles are pretty basic, and the options keep expanding. I have a necromancer who's about 13 months old, with over 300 hours logged on her; she has multiple sets of 15k armor, every necromancer normal & elite skill, and quite a few normal & elite skills from every other class. You seem to think I should remake her because I "didn't make her right to begin with". Of all the hair/face combinations available in Prophecies, I'm pretty happy with what I chose. When Factions came out, there were some combos I liked a little more, but not enough to remake the character. Now in Nightfall there are some combinations I like a lot more, but I can't even imagine deleting this character to make a new necromancer. I certainly can't justify paying $10 to get another character slot to make another necromancer without deleting my current one. Now magnify this problem across my mesmer, elementalist, monk, and ranger, all of whom have at least 100 hours invested at this point.
I understand that, like the ability to add character slots, this is not something they can just pull out of their hats; it takes a considerable amount of programmer time, possibly even nontrivial artist/modeller time to add the UI for it. What I don't understand is why they can't add this feature and charge for it, like they did for adding character slots.

If an attractive young female warrior in a bikini can handle that giant warhammer, then surely a lighter-built male could!
Okay, so allowing different builds and weights would be a lot of work for ANet, as would all that jewelerry and tattoos business, and there are lots more productive things they could be doing, but as far as I'm concerned ANY improvement in the degree of character customisation will be a step forward, even if all they give us is a bit of cross-chapter hair-switching.

Maybe they should use what they already have for this function, let you add say factions hairstyle to prophecies character, maybe make it such that you can change to all hairstyles your account have access to (ex. factions only account will only change within factions hairstyle, but factions and prophecies can change between both). This will decrease the clone, perhaps encourage players to get Factions/Prophecies and less work will be needed for this feature. Oh and the price should be somewhat expensive for the gold sink, I'm thinking 25k.

I really dont understand the rant about not implementing this. Think about us people who have been around since beta with characters that are over 5 million EXP with skills masters across 4 different professions. It just sucks that nightfall comes out and now there are all these new styles and such available that we could never use without throwing 2 years of character building down the toilet. Implementing this should be a no brainer. I mean think about how people felt with factions came out with upgraded armor that was BETTER than obsidian stats. Players had just spend over millions of gold just to get FOW gear just to find out keining armor for 1.5k had a +5-10 armor difference. Were people pissed? Yes. And ANET did something about this, they went into all of the player inventories and modded existing items.
Look, us loyal players pay for each installment and want access to as much material as possible. Its sad to see so many new models and styles that the developers put hard work into be unusable to the older generation of players because of the lack of a stylist feature.
Gaile Gray herself said to the community that the way people feel and how they are attached to their characters is important. This announced by Gaile was when the face changes were put into effect and some models were deformed by the beta shader.
Its unfair to us older players who have been around since beta to not be able to choose some of these features without starting from scratch.
If your going to argue with me about how player looks arent so important, think about the armors in the game and how the majority of the community blows tons of gold on 15k sets and FOW armor with the same stats as droks gear just for looks and status.
Another issue is goldsinking. Inflation is becoming a huge problems in the guildwars economy and so much gold is being dumped into the system that the prices on items are going way higher that players can ever afford without several days of monotonous farming. GUILD WARS NEED AS MANY GOLD SINKS AS POSSIBLE to get rid of some of these problems.
A stylist npc would be a great idea to appease older players like me who have played since beta as well as allow an outlet for some of the excess money in the economic system.
The problems with these gold sinks originate from several problems:
1.) Ebay
2.) SS-SV/55 UW ecto farming... heres some proof of this:
There are 33 people in this pic at TOA, 13 of which are Mo/W. If each one can get 6 ectos or more in an hour at 6k each, thats 36k x 13 people being dumped into the economy every hour. Thats way more freaking gold than any normal casual player can ever make. And you go into town wondering why sword pommels are selling for 90k? Well heres one of the reasons.
3.) Overfarming in general
Well there you go... a ton of good reasons and a solid arguement why something like this should go into effect.

i actually don't hate Ebay plz don't flame me for thinking this...i think its great for ppl who like to play, but don't have that much time...my friend actually does this thing where he uses another account to get 100k-1mil transactions for simple weapons that he uses to aviod getting banned...its really cool... although i don't do it and i do it the honset way...
What i do hate is ectos....I think that ectos are the worst and that in order to deflate this Anet should have $0.25 ectos for sale(for a limited time of course). this way ectos prices will significantly go down, and more ppl will get FoW armor...its a cool deal actually

Well, I know some of you are against jewlery and stuff, but, again, there wouldn't be any stats to it so it wouldn't be changing the game mechanics.
And, it wouldn't have to be in with the Stylist NPC. I would like it to be a crafter or something, (Ie: Kuzrick Ring, Kuzrick Necklace, etc. but each crafter have a slight variation on the looks of these, for we know they Kuzzie's do).
And, we could also have jewelery drop from bosses. IE: Dingledangles Earrings.
I'm in support of the Jewelery, and most certainly to be able to grow a bear, change the length and color of my hair, etc.etc.

No, no no, no.
This is one of those things that would effect in-game mechanics way to much and be far unfair to people. This game will go down the drain and ANET knows that.
Horrid idea, not flaming you, but in the long run everyone gets screwed.

Because we have already paid for the hair, faces and ability to choose the look (at creation). Also, because it is a feature, not new content, nor is it something they should be able to charge us twice for something when we get nothing in new from it. See, it's not new, it's already in game.
Also, they don't need a new UI or make it into a gold sink. It can be as simple as a /newhair command that brings back the character select screen where you choose your new look.
If Anet wants to turn GW into Maple Story and give away content and charge for features, then I'll be all for them charging for features. GWs however already has charged you for the content when you bought the game, they are just being lazy about adding features to extend game play.
